Consolidation of Digital Cluster and IVI System Using Virtulization - Bumhyeon Baek, LG Electronics

We will introduce a HMI solution to consolidate a digital cluster and IVI. The purpose of this solution is to provide a full reconfigurable HMI for drivers through the integration of a digital cluster and an In-Vehicle Infortainment system into one display. We used a virtualization technology to integrate the two different display systems. This virtualization technology is XenGT which supports full GPU virtualization. We tried to extended XenGT to a display cluster and IVI at once. The digital cluster is executed in Dom0 because the cluster has to guarantee reliability and consistency due to the characteristics of automotive systems. The IVI is executed in a guest VM because IVI can be broken or rebooted at anytime. When these screens are overlayed, the consolidated display allow us to use digital cluster and IVI at the same time.
